Gender Equality Actions Service: an Act of Care for Our Universities

Coaching event

The online coaching event hosted by aUPaEU on 22 October 2026 gathered 68 participants from 36 institutions for a deeply interactive session on the Gender Equality Actions Service.

Gender Equality Plans (GEPs) became a requirement for participation in Horizon Europe calls in 2021, but institutions are still struggling to design and implement robust actions for gender equality, diversity and inclusion. In Widening countries in particular, there is often limited capacity to identify impactful and cohesive strategies.

The Gender Equality Actions service is online tool co-designed with gender equality experts and developed within the aUPaEU project to share and compare good practices on gender equality, diversity and inclusion developed and implemented by universities. The tool is structured as a collaborative repository, allowing to contribute to and access a repository of different interventions and actions, conduct benchmarks and targeted searches for specific actions and connect with equality and diversity officers across European Universities.

The Repository is helping institutions reflect on their combinations of actions (building a strategy) and plan a coherent roadmap by providing concrete examples and good practices that institutions can reuse and adapt and ultimately creating shared terminology aligned with EU frameworks.

Greta Temporin, post-doc research fellow at Politecnico di Torino, co-developed the service and led the coaching event:

“The Gender Equality Actions Service is a space for building bridges between our institutions and our daily work for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Sharing your actions and strategies on the Repository is an act of care for a wide community of research and practitioners interested in growing together towards context-sensitive practices and GEPs.”

How to get involved

If you are involved in equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives in a European university, you can both search for actions and submit actions undertaken at your institution to the repository. The service is accessible to anyone, and actions are submitted via a submission form, after logging-in with Eduroam credentials, or Wallet ID.

There are many types of actions you can include, such as practices, trainings, monitoring strategies, gender public procurements, mentorship programmes, gender indicators, etc.

By sharing new actions, the repository can grow richer and more meaningful.
