About the Session

This hands-on training guided participants through the practical use of three essential modules in the Agora platform: Events, Contacts, and Email Marketing. Aimed at users from university alliances, the session explained how to create engaging events, manage speaker and attendee information, and effectively communicate through newsletters.

What You Will Learn

📅 Event Module

  • How to create and customise events (name, template, tags, time zone, organiser, location).

  • Set registration limits and enable auto-confirmation emails.

  • Add custom registration questions (e.g., university name, consent to future contact).

  • Create event agendas using tracks, sessions, and speakers.

  • Enable or disable features like talk proposals, tracks, and submenus.

🌐 Website Integration

  • Modifying event pages directly via website editor.

  • Publishing and personalising event pages (images, descriptions).

  • Discussed embedding events on external websites and related access considerations.

👥 Contact Module

  • Explained how organisers and institutions are linked to contacts.

  • Creating new contacts directly via the event form or in the contact module.

  • Importance of maintaining correct information for automation.

📧 Email Marketing Module

  • Setting up mailing lists and subscription forms for newsletters.

  • Sending emails to event registrants or subscribers.

  • Discussed the difference between mailing lists and mailing groups (broadcast vs collaborative email chains).
